Rosanna Araujo
for TCDSB Trustee Ward 5

Strong schools are built when families, educators, students, and communities have a meaningful voice at the table.

Why I’m Running

My name is Rosanna Araujo, and I am running to be your next TCDSB Trustee for Ward 5 because I believe strong schools are built when families, educators, students, and communities have a meaningful voice at the table.

As a parent, community advocate, non-profit professional, and longtime volunteer, I have spent years working to strengthen the communities I call home.

Experience in Our Schools

I bring more than five years of experience serving on Catholic school parent councils in a variety of leadership roles, including Chair, Secretary, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director. These experiences have given me firsthand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing our schools, while reinforcing how important strong parent engagement and transparent leadership are to student success.

Turning Advocacy Into Action

Outside of my professional work, I have consistently stepped forward to advocate for students and families. From helping secure funding for school improvements and organizing initiatives that directly benefit students, to championing greater diversity and representation within parent leadership, I believe advocacy should always lead to action.

Advocacy & Community Service

My professional career has also been rooted in advocacy and community service. Through my work in the non-profit sector, I have supported and advocated alongside marginalized and underserved communities, helping connect individuals and families with essential programs, resources, and opportunities. My experience spans community engagement, food security, seniors' programming, newcomer and settlement supports, volunteer leadership, outreach, fundraising, and building partnerships that respond to real community needs.

Working With Ward 5 Families

Ward 5 is home to diverse families with different experiences, needs, and perspectives. As Trustee, I want to ensure those voices are heard, especially the voices of families who have historically faced barriers to being heard within our institutions.

I am running to bring experienced community leadership, strong advocacy, transparency, and a parent’s perspective to the TCDSB. Most importantly, I am running because every child deserves to feel supported, represented, safer, and given the opportunity to thrive.
